Health Symposium

There were many experiences that we participated in during our time in Grenada that incorporated health education to empower men and women. Empowering an individual is one of the best things to be a part of. We took the knowledge that we had learned, and we passed it on to others in hope that it would spark a flame. One of the first things we did was at a radio station. We were interviewed by the radio host and spoke about breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, and adolescent health. We talked about the prevalence of these conditions, signs and symptoms, and how to start the conversation with a healthcare provider. We talked about these conditions again on a television station and at the Golden Years center which is a recreational site for senior citizens. I enjoyed seeing people ask questions and take an initiative in their health. If there is something that I took away from these experiences it is the importance of education and that it is never too late to take care of your health.
